2009 EWGA National Conference

Six of us made the trip to Palm Desert for the 2009 EWGA Conference Needless to say we had a fabulous time.  Here are just a few of the highlights.

Attendees Carla Bitterling, Linda DeBartolo, Joan Muzeni, Pam Stewart, Sally Livingston, and Barbara Muzeni

First of all, let me say that Orlando was front and center receiving multiple awards and I have no shame in bragging about our accomplishments!

Sally Livingston received recognition for her successful execution of the SWING program (Skillful Wome n Inspiring New Golfers) and for new member recruitment.  Thanks to Barbara Muzeni’s hard work, along with all of you who introduced your friends to EWGA, we were among the top Chapters in New Member recruitment.

They say luck happens when opportunity meets preparation.  We had two very “lucky” members at the conference.

The 17th Hole at the JW Marriott Palm Course in Palm Desert is Barbara Muzeni’s new favorite.  She had a hole-in-one (opportunity meets preparation) on Saturday.  Needless to say, her enthusiasm was “uncontained”.

Sally Livingston was another lucky winner.  Members who recruited more than 10 new members in 2008 received a new Nike Golf bag.  A drawing was held for the top recruiters and the grand prize went to Sally.   Opportunity and preparation strikes again.  The grand prize?  A set of Nike clubs…..plus a personnel fitting at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, OR….plus the air fare to get there.

Check out the Photo Gallery.

The conference is open to all members, not just board members.  You may want to put it on your agenda next year.  Pinehurst in April.  See you there.

Best regards,

Linda DeBartolo

Women Who Lead Awards.

Introduced in 2008, the EWGA ‘Women Who Lead’ Awards are designed to recognize outstanding performance and outstanding results among EWGA chapter volunteer leaders in 10 distinct categories. From 268 nominations, finalists were selected from leaders across the association which was then followed by the naming of ten winners.

EWGA Orlando is very proud that a number of our Board members were recognized for their outstanding performance as finalists and two of our members received top honors.  What to go Orlando!

 FInalists were:

  • Patti Hewitt, Change Agent
  • Sally Livingston, Golf Education and Player Development
  • Peggy Keith, Golf Events

Top Honors in their category went to:

  •  Barbara Muzeni, Innovative and Effective Member Recruitment
  • Linda DeBartolo,  Making Connections

An extra bonus….as a result of our success in the Women Who Lead program the chapter will receive a monetary award.  More resources translate into better golf opportunities for all our members!

Board positions are open to all members in good standing.

Interested?  Go ahead - get involved!
